UF College of Pharmacy faculty received various awards and recognitions throughout 2020 and 2021.
John Allen, Pharm.D., BCPS, BCCCP, FCCM, FCCP

The American College of Clinical Pharmacy, or ACCP, Board of Regents has elected John Allen, Pharm.D.,
a clinical associate professor of pharmacotherapy and translational research, as an ACCP Fellow.
The distinction is awarded to individuals who have made sustained contributions to ACCP and who have demonstrated exceptional performance in clinical pharmacy practice and/or research.
Larisa Cavallari, Pharm.D., BCPS, FCCP

Larisa Cavallari, Pharm.D., a professor of pharmacotherapy and translational research, was honored with the 2020 Distinguished Investigator Award from the American College of Clinical Pharmacy’s Cardiology Practice and Research Network, or PRN. The award is presented annually to a Cardiology PRN member who has made significant and long-lasting research contributions to the field of cardiovascular pharmacotherapy.
Lindsey Childs-Kean, Pharm.D., M.P.H., BCPS

Lindsey Childs-Kean, Pharm.D., M.P.H., a clinical associate professor of pharmacotherapy and translational research, was selected as a 2021 American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Emerging Teaching Scholar Award recipient. The award recognizes excellence in scholarly teaching and learning among academic pharmacy faculty.
Guenther Hochhaus, Ph.D.

Guenther Hochhaus, Ph.D., a professor of pharmaceutics, has been named the 2020-21 Doctoral Dissertation Mentoring Award winner for the University of Florida College of Pharmacy. The award recognizes exceptional teaching in graduate doctoral education and excellence in mentoring doctoral students throughout their dissertation project.
Julie Johnson, Pharm.D.

Julie Johnson, Pharm.D., dean and distinguished professor, was named a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, or AAAS. She was elected to the AAAS Section on Pharmaceutical Sciences for significant discoveries in cardiovascular drug pharmacogenomics, and for advancing the use of genetic data in clinical practice to improve clinical outcomes with drug therapy. She also received the 2021 Rawls-Palmer Progress in Medicine Award from the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics for her scientific contributions impacting pharmacology research and clinical practice.
Stephan Schmidt, Ph.D., F.C.P.

Stephan Schmidt, Ph.D., an associate professor of pharmaceutics and the Certara Endowed Professor, was presented the Excellence in Academia award at the Model-Informed Drug Discovery, or MIDD+, Scientific Conference. The MIDD+ Excellence in Academia Award was established to recognize the outstanding contributions of an academic scientist whose research and publications serve to support the development of innovative quantitative solutions that optimize treatment options for patients.
Thomas Schmittgen, Ph.D.

Thomas Schmittgen, Ph.D., chair of pharmaceutics and the V. Ravi Chandran Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, was named a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, or AAAS. He was elected to the AAAS Section on Pharmaceutical Sciences for distinguished contributions to the field of microRNA biology, particularly using real-time PCR to quantify microRNA expression in tissues, extracellular vesicles, cell lines and tumors.
