In Memoriam
Recognizing the late students and contributors to the college's mission.
Jeannine B. Browning | 1932–2021
Jeannine B. Browning, a devoted wife and friend of the UF College of Pharmacy, passed away April 23. She and her loving husband of 67 years, George, ’53, have graciously supported the college to advance clinical innovative care and community business and entrepreneurialism. Additionally, they contributed to the construction of the Health Professions, Nursing and Pharmacy Building.
Jeannine and George settled and raised their four children in Melbourne, Florida. They were very active in their church, First United Methodist, where she served as a youth counselor and taught Sunday school. Jeannine was an outstanding cook and food was one way she showed her love to family and friends. She wrote several cookbooks that were sold worldwide. She also stayed true to her family roots and actively managed her family’s cattle ranch in Webster, Florida. A huge fan of the Florida Gators, she enjoyed following the athletic teams, especially football and basketball. In addition to her husband, Jeannine is survived by four children, eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Rebecca Soderholm | 1994–2021
The UF College of Pharmacy mourns the loss of fourth-year pharmacy student Rebecca Soderholm, who passed away in a vehicle accident on April 13. She was on schedule to graduate in May and was honored with a posthumous degree at the college’s spring commencement ceremony. The 27-year-old served as a Gainesville campus student ambassador and was involved in several student organizations. She was recognized as a Crisafi Scholar in 2017 and earned the Yachbes Family Scholarship in 2019. The college is heartbroken by Rebecca’s passing and extends condolences to her family and friends.
